3 year old has a fever and got sick this morning.?

My 3 year old son (just turned 3 last week) woke me up around 8:00 this morning to ask for juice and he was whiney and wimpering. He told me he wanted to go back to bed which I found really odd. But he went back to bed so I did too. Around 9:00 he came in and got me again and was just really whiney and wimpery. I noticed he felt warm but nothing too bad. So I got his pillow and blanket and got him set up on the couch and went down the list on what hurts. He said no to everything except his ears. I thought for sure he must have an ear infection. I went and took and his temp. and it was in the 99 range. I woke up my husband and told me I think I'm going to call the Ped. just incase. When I came back out he started getting sick. He got sick about 3 times in matter of a minute or two. After that he just layed around for a couple hours. He did drink some juice and kept it down. Around noon he played outside for a bit but then came back in and wanted to lay down and he fell asleep for about an hour. It's 4:30 now and I took him temp. orally and through his ear and it ranges from 99.5 -101.1. The 101.1 was through his ear. The oral one was 100. He wanted some chex mix earlier so he ate a handful or two of that and I gave him some Gatorade. He seems in good spirits just wants to keep laying down and watch TV but seems pretty normal other than that. What do you think he has? I was sure he must have a bug. What do you think? He's really never been sick except a few colds here and there in his 3 years of life. Thank you!!!
