What to do in Paris for New Year!?

I would like to spend a New Year in Paris, but I do not want to go to any restaurant, just walk, see something...I was told that there are any fireworks at midnight in Paris, but is there anything to see outside though? Something near Eiffel tower, would it have any lightshow or something? Where all people are going to be that night except restaurants and bars?
